For the last 2 weeks I’ve been using The Hairy Bikers Asian Adventure as inspiration for meal planning…and its worked pretty well. Everyone (including the fussy eaters) has been enjoying the meals (shock horror gasp!) and I’ve managed to tone down the chilli…just a little bit 😉

So again, this week, we’re going Asian lol

  • Monday – Bulgogi Beef
  • Tuesday – Fasting – Pizza for Kids
  • Wednesday – Salmon/Chicken Teriyaki
  • Thursday – Fasting – Something for Kids
  • Friday – Chicken Curry
  • Saturday – Sweet & Sour Pork
  • Sunday – The Hubster is in charge (so it’ll probably be a takeaway lol)

Note the distinct lack of desserts and cakes *sighs* Soooo depressing 😦 But, needs must if I’ve got any chance of getting into my summer clothes from last year!

What are you planning to cook this week?

Meal Planning Monday 12th May

mpmframe250

Although I’ve still been meal planning every week, this is the first week since March that I’ve taken part, official like. The A-Z Challenge really did me in lol

Anyway, back now, and unfortunately having to go on a diet *boo hiss* as we’ve just had far too many cakes and puds these last few months, and my Acid Reflux problem has returned, and even with medication i can’t shift it. I know its worse when I’m carrying some extra weight *sighs* 😦

Last week i picked up a lovely new cookery book in one of my local charity shops. Brand new, still in its cellophane, for 2 quid! 🙂

photo-21

I’d never heard of Darina Allen or the Ballymaloe Cookery School…until now and this book lists all their recipes they teach at the school…food porn at its best!!!! 🙂

So this week, my meal plan has come from Darina’s book…

  • Monday – Steak Sandwiches
  • Tuesday – Takeaway (i have a busy day)
  • Wednesday – Shepherds Pie & Bread & Butter Pudding
  • Thursday – Its my birthday so we’re out that night
  • Friday – Teriyaki Salmon (Teriyaki Chicken for the kids) & Rice Pudding
  • Saturday – Lasagne (I’m going to try Darina’s recipe)
  • Sunday – Who knows…The Hubster is in charge

As you can see, only 2 puds and no cake this week 😦

Please pop over to Mrs M’s to see what everyone else is up to this week.

Make me drool…what are you planning to cook this week?

Monday Meal Planning 24th March

Ive had my Nigella fix and I’m moving on…only had to abandon 1 meal last week from the plan…because The Hubster decided he wanted a Chinese takeaway on Saturday night…i wasn’t going to argue 😉

This week I’m getting familiar with Elizabeth David. She’s like the English version of Julia Child. Ive known about David for years, you couldn’t fail to, if you’re into food and are English…but I’ve shockingly, never, cooked any of her recipes 😦 I’ll be righting that this week!

photo-8

What are you cooking this week?

Meal Planning – 3rd March

Last weeks meal plan was a bit hit and miss…but sometimes real life gets in the way. But this week, not only did it get in the way of the meal plan, but it got in the way of the diet 😦 I just don’t seem to be able to get back into the whole fasting thing.

So next week I’m not going to stress about it. Im going to try to eat healthily (well, ok, apart from one day of cake lol) and just cut back on all the rubbish lol

mpmframe250

  • Monday – Beef Stew & Dumplings (Inspired by The English Kitchen)
  • Tuesday – Pancakes, Pancakes & more Pancakes!
  • Wednesday – Chicken Paella & Coffee Walnut Cake
  • Thursday – Anita’s Moroccan Sandwiches (with sausages…my lot don’t do veggie)
  • Friday – Takeaway
  • Saturday – Cheesy Stuffed Beef & Chipotle Burrito’s
  • Sunday – The Hubster is in charge.

I’ve taken inspiration from a couple of blogs and all those Waitrose Recipe cards i keep picking up lol. Please pop over to Mrs M’s to see what everyone else will be cooking this week. I always find other peoples lists trigger my own ideas when I’m thinking about meals  for The Fam 🙂

So what are you cooking this week?

Meal Planning – 24th February

mpmframe250

Last weeks meal planning went well, but Fasting was a complete nightmare lol. Ok, i know diets aren’t supposed to be pleasant, but, bloody hell, it was pure torture! I hope this week will be better. Im sure that was one of the reasons i felt so rough last week 😦

Anyway, this week, I’ve been inspired by several sources. The first one was Food & Drink, when i saw chef Gennaro Contaldo cook Lasagne, and then by having breakfast on Saturday morning in Leon 🙂

So heres how this week is shaping up…

  • Monday (today) – Lasagne & Garlic Bread (i have never made my own Lasagne lol)
  • Tuesday – Fasting/Pizza for the kids
  • Wednesday – Leon’s Sesame Chicken with Spring Greens and then Rice Pudding
  • Thursday – Fasting/something for the kids (to be chosen as I’m walking around the supermarket lol)
  • Friday – Takeaway
  • Saturday – Jacket Potatoes with a selection of fillings & home made bread
  • Sunday – Fasting/The Hubster’s in charge of the kids meal

I’ll also be taking part in another baking challenge 😉

Please pop over to Mrs M”s for more meal planning inspiration.

What will you be serving up this week?

Meal Planning – 17th February

Yesterday, we had a Chinese Takeaway for dinner.  I really must get my front tooth fixed!(broken crown that I’ve not been abe to get properly fixed due to being ill) I had to resort to cutting up my Prawn Balls and the Fajita’s we had for dinner today *sighs*

Still, I’m sure i’ll manage the Creme Egg Brownies that i made this afternoon. I haven’t had one yet, but they have the thumbs up from The Fam 🙂

photo

Which brings me nicely onto the subject of diets lol. We’ve decided to go back on the 5:2 Diet. Last year i lost 2 stones (28lbs) doing it for 6 months, but what with the house move and my new found love of baking, things are getting out of hand lol.

So for 3 days every week i’ll be fasting again, so I’m sorry to say, there will be no post here on those days. I won’t even be able to look at a cookery book, let alone talk about food on fasting days. Wish me luck 🙂

So this weeks meal planning takes the 5:2 into account and has seen me return To Nigel Slaters Kitchen Diaries. Don’t forget to check out MrsM’s Blog for more inspiration.

  • Monday – Chicken Patties & Treacle Tart
  • Tuesday – Fasting – Pizza for the kids
  • Wednesday – Pork with Garlic (stir fry) & Lemon Tart
  • Thursday – Fasting – Chicken Kievs for kids
  • Friday – Takeaway
  • Saturday – Slow Roast Lamb
  • Sunday – Fasting – Pasta of some description for the kids
  • PLUS – At least one loaf of bread from the bread maker

No cake this week *shock horror gasp* but 2 tarts instead, which no doubt will come with cream or custard…well, I’m easing myself into the diet gradually 😉

What are your food plans for the week?

Meal Planning – 10th February

Last weeks meal planning was a huge success! In fact, i think it was the first week since the start of the year where i didn’t have to change anything lol.

Today we went to Tonbridge Farmers Market which was pretty good. We bought a joint of beef (The Hubsters choice), some pate’s, veg (including Jerusalem Artichokes which i haven’t had for ages) and some Black Pudding Scotch Eggs that we heated up when we got home and had for lunch 🙂

photo-2

The Hubster cooked a cracking semi roast which was then followed by my sons Brownies with what was left of my Vanilla Ice Cream from earlier in the week.

photo

And I’ve just finished off the day with hot toast and Chicken Liver and Brandy Pate lol

Next weeks inspiration for the meal planning comes from the Great British Food Magazine that i discovered recently, and as always, don’t forget to pop over to MrsM’s to see what everyone else is planning for the week ahead. You never know, you might just feel inspired to get your pinnie out 😉

photo-2 copy

This week, I’ve got a really hectic schedule (due to being ill everythings now come at once lol) so I’m just praying i’ll be able to stay on track lol

  • Monday – Pizza’s (create your own at the Pizza bar in Asda’s) as I’m out during the day and during the evening
  • Tuesday – Moroccan Beef Stew with Couscous (from Great British Food)
  • Wednesday – Minestrone soup (my own version) and Lime & Coconut Cake (from Great British Food)
  • Thursday – Rosti topped Chicken & Pancetta pie (from Great British Food) and Cheese Muffins (also from Great British Food) I’ll also be making a special chocolatey treat today 😉
  • Friday – Valentines Day! Yes, i do buy into the whole tacky Valentines thing so we’re going out for dinner…the kids will have to fend for themselves
  • Saturday – Fajita’s and Creme Egg Brownies
  • Sunday – The Hubsters in charge…

So fingers crossed it all gets done, and if it doesn’t? Well, i didn’t get my Chinese takeaway last week 😉

Whats your favourite fallback takeaway meal?

Meal Planning – 3rd February

Can you believe its actually February already? Wow…where did January go? To be honest, I’m glad to see the back of it, and hoping that all the health crap I’ve been going through is finally over. Last weeks meal planning went well, although it fell apart at the weekend when The Hubster and i discovered we were the only ones in for dinner both nights lol.

From now on i’ll post meal plans on a Sunday. I love sitting down on a Sunday afternoon with a pile of magazines or books, looking at all the food porn, trying to decide what i fancy cooking during the coming week.

mpmframe250

Please pop over to Mrs M’s to see all the other Monday Meal Planners, they’re all so inspiring. This week i’ll be using two wonderful magazines for inspiration as I feel in need of comfort food.
